About the speaker
Camilla M. Herlevich is the founding Executive Director of the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust, a regional land trust whose mission is to preserve natural areas and open space in the coastal plain. She has over 25 years experience in conservation work, including land acquisition, advocacy, fund-raising and management. She has lectured and taught extensively throughout the country on conservation topics including conservation easements, tax incentives for conservation donations and starting successful land trusts. She has been nationally recognized for her conservation leadership. She has served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits. She was appointed by the NC Speaker of the House to the Joint Legislative Study Committee on Submerged Lands in 1995 and by the Board of Commissioners of New Hanover County to the Parks Advisory Committee in 1996 and the Airlie Gardens Foundation Board in 1999. A native of Wilmington, NC, she graduated from New Hanover High School in 1971, received a B.A. magna cum laude from Duke University in 1975 and a J. D. from Boston University in 1978, where she was awarded the G. Joseph Tauro Award for oral advocacy.
