NC HealthyBuilt Homes

Homes are qualified by the NC HealthyBuilt Homes Program by incorporating environmentally responsible strategies in 8 categories:

  • Prerequisites including ENERGY STAR or SystemVision label
  • Site 
  • Water 
  • Building Envelope 
  • Comfort Systems 
  • Appliances, Lighting and Renewables 
  • Indoor Air Quality 
  • Materials   

Homes qualify to meet the HBH standards by scoring points in each of these categories for implementing a variety of pre-qualified measures. The builder documents the construction process using the HBH checklist, and a HBH Independent Inspector or a NC Solar Center staff member performs a final inspection and issues the certificate.
