    The best way to be sure that a home is green is to confirm that it has been qualified by one of the following green building programs:
Energy efficiency is an important component of green building, but green homes also must meet criteria in other categories, such as site planning and use, water use and management, materials and resources and indoor air quality.


Energy Efficiency Programs


Many green home building programs have adopted ENERGY STAR as the standard for energy efficiency.

SystemVision is a North Carolina-based energy efficiency program for new construction of affordable housing.
